- 1:2 ratio of industry guest to student
- Theme of “Intentional Networking”
I took on the role of co-chair for “Breakfast with Industry,” an annual networking event organized by the Bioengineering Graduate Society at UC San Diego. With its 28th edition, this event reached a remarkable milestone, attracting a record-breaking attendance of 72 industry professionals. Notably, the ratio of industry guests to students achieved an impressive 1:2 balance.
To amplify the event’s impact, I introduced the concept of “intentional networking.” This innovative approach went beyond the traditional scope of networking, urging industry guests to actively explore potential internships and full-time employment opportunities within our talented student community.
For enhanced organization and seamless flow, I devised a strategic layout for the event venue. Each corner of the space was designated for a specific specialization, optimizing both space and time utilization and fostering meaningful interactions.
The outcomes of these endeavors were overwhelmingly positive, as indicated by the remarkable 97% of attendees who offered feedback praising the event’s efficiency, thematic coherence, and the opportunities it presented.
Leveraging my adept communication skills, I effectively convinced senior industry professionals to embark on an early morning journey to UCSD, arriving promptly at 7 am. This commitment enabled them not only to engage with our students but also to collaborate closely with their recruiters, resulting in tailored opportunities for our student cohort.
